Among the culinary specialties of Croatia, there is the Dalmatian smoked ham and Pag cheese, or pecorino cheese served as appetizer; main meals are based on fish and seafood: “Mornasky” is a risotto with squid, “Brodet” is the famous fish soup; there are different specialties of pasta and meat including “Pasticada” a stew with a very particular and tasty wine sauce which is usually served with gnocchi. Among the desserts we can taste the typical “Rozata” that is very similar to creme brulee. Every dish can be accompanied by fine wines, since the wines of Croatia are among the most popular in Europe. The best red wines are: Teran, Merlot, and Kabernet Posturp; the best white wines are: Posip, Pinot, Kujundjusa and Zlahtina. Typical alcoholics are grappa, Sljivovicca, Travarica and lozovaca.
